How Our Trademark Agreement Works..
Here’s the simple version of how licensing works with Mr. Carpentry.
We Keep Ownership of the Trademark
I keep full ownership of the federally registered MR CARPENTRY® trademark (U.S. Registration No. 8,293,651). You’re not buying the mark itself. You’re getting a clear contractual right to use the name and branding inside your territory. It’s a license, not a sale or assignment of the trademark.
Exclusive Rights in Your Territory
Your license is exclusive. No one else can use the Mr. Carpentry name for carpentry and related services in your defined area — whether that’s a city, a multi-city region, or a full state. I also agree not to give those rights to anyone else in your territory.
What’s Covered
Your agreement spells out the details up front:
Your exact territory
The services you can offer under the name (carpentry, framing, finish work, custom woodworking, permit packages, designs, and related work)
How long the license lasts and how it renews
The types of customers you can serve (mainly residential and light commercial)
Straightforward Pricing
You pay a one-time setup fee for the territory plus a flat monthly licensing fee. There are no royalties on your revenue, no percentage of sales, and no complicated reporting. You keep everything you earn.
Protecting the Brand
To keep the trademark strong, the agreement includes basic quality standards. You’ll need to:
Use the name and logo according to our brand guidelines
Maintain professional standards that match the Mr. reputation
Carry appropriate insurance
Use the ® symbol when you display the mark
These rules protect the brand for everyone (including you) without telling you how to run your day-to-day work.
If You Want to Exit or Transfer
The agreement is clear about what happens if fees aren’t paid or standards aren’t met. If the license ends, you stop using the Mr. Carpentry name.
You can also sell or transfer your license to a new buyer, as long as we reasonably approve the buyer and they agree to the same terms. That gives you a real way to capture the value of the territory if you ever decide to move on.

Because MR CARPENTRY is federally registered, you get strong nationwide legal protection. Proper licensing with quality controls actually helps keep the mark strong over time.
